SPECIAL NOTICE FOR DINWIDDIE ROWANTY STUDENTS
Dinwiddie Rowanty students will report to Dinwiddie High School on August 23, 2022, as they have been directed by the high school. This includes their Rowanty time slot until Rowanty opens for general school days on September 6, 2022.
On August 23, 2022, Dinwiddie High School begin working with Rowanty students to distribute Chromebooks. Dinwiddie Rowanty students are required to have their Chromebooks with them each day while they are attending Rowanty classes at DHS.
Please note that IN-PERSON ATTENDANCE is REQUIRED. Attendance lists will be forwarded to Rowanty each day. EACH STUDENT MUST SIGN IN FOR THEMSELVES. If any student is found to have falsified attendance records, disciplinary action will follow. Tardies will be counted; THREE TARDIES EQUAL AN ABSENCE. Rowanty attendance policies will be in place for these class times.
Various Rowanty staff members will attend Dinwiddie High School on August 24, 2022 to acclimate Rowanty students to our online programs such as PowerSchool, Google Classroom, and any other program we may be using with them. If Chromebooks have not been distributed on August 23, 2022, Rowanty staff will be on site at DHS the day after Chromebooks are distributed.
Rowanty teachers will be providing online assignments for Dinwiddie students to complete during their time at the high school. Per DHS and Rowanty administration, students MUST be physically in attendance at DHS during their class time or they will be marked absent. These assignments will be graded and included in their first nine weeks grade.
Note that ALL Rowanty students (Dinwiddie, Prince George, and Sussex) will be required to complete these assignments, not just DHS students. These are NOT extra assignments, Dinwiddie students will only be completing them early. The assignments provided will be based on various topics from career readiness to information on the class in which they are scheduled.
Please direct any questions you may have to Ms. Simmers at csimmers@rowanty.us. You may also speak to Dr. Connelly and Mr. Garnes at DHS.
I know the start of this year will be a bit confusing at first, but it will calm down quickly. We are determined to make sure that our Dinwiddie students are provided all educational opportunities even if they are not physically in our building.
Thank you!
Cheryl Simmers, Principal
